Overview

CertForge ("the App") is a certification exam practice quiz application. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Anonymous Authentication

When you first open the App, we create an anonymous account using Firebase Authentication. This generates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information. We use this solely to authenticate requests to our servers.

Quiz Data (Opt-In Only)

If you enable the "Share with Community" feature, we collect:

• Quiz scores — your overall percentage on each quiz attempt

• Per-question results — whether each answer was correct or incorrect

• Comments — any optional comments you write about quiz questions

This data is associated only with your anonymous identifier and cannot be traced back to you personally. It is used to calculate community average scores displayed to other users.

If you do not enable sharing, none of this data leaves your device.

Local Data

The App stores your quiz progress, scores, and preferences locally on your device using standard iOS storage. This data is not transmitted to any server unless you opt in to community sharing.

Purchase Information

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information.

Information We Do Not Collect

• Names, email addresses, or phone numbers

• Location data

• Device identifiers for advertising

• Health, financial, or biometric data

• Browsing history or data from other apps

• Photos, contacts, or other personal files

How We Use Your Information

• Anonymous authentication: To secure communication between the App and our servers

• Community quiz data (opt-in): To calculate and display aggregate community quiz averages

• Comments (opt-in): To allow users to share feedback on quiz questions

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication — for anonymous sign-in (Google Privacy Policy)

• Firebase Cloud Functions & Firestore — for processing and storing opt-in community quiz data

• Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchases (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or social media integrations.

Data Retention

• Anonymous authentication tokens are managed by Firebase and may be cleaned up automatically after extended inactivity

• Community quiz data is retained to maintain aggregate statistics and may be deleted upon request

• Local data on your device persists until you delete the App

Data Security

All communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Server requests are protected by Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized access.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we only use anonymous authentication and do not collect personal data, the App is suitable for general audiences.

Your Rights

You can:

• Opt out of community data sharing at any time within the App

• Delete local data by deleting the App from your device

• Request deletion of any server-side data by contacting us

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
